About Life & Med School: Blog of a Medical Student
January 28, 2008 by studentdoctorbobIt is an obvious statement to say that everyone has visited a doctor of some sort, whether primary care or specialist, at some point in their life. However, I do not believe people actually take the time to think about what goes into becoming a physician. The years of school, the physical and mental demands of professional school, and the post-professional school training that varies with each specialty. Thats not to say that people do not understand that most physicians attend 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of professional school, and then complete a residency. The lack of thought probably goes into what is actually studied during those 4 years, how the experience affects the individual, and the rite of passage from the students first day to his/her last.
In a sense, I plan to tell my story as a med student and along the way discuss the romantic ideas surrounding the profession, etc.
